Salary Negotiation Claude skill

Your Personal Salary Negotiation Coach
(use on claude)
A Claude skill that builds your script from your actual offer — not a generic template.
Why this exists
Most negotiation advice is written for a different person in a different situation. This skill takes your numbers, your context, and your constraints — and builds the exact script you need for your specific conversation.
Run it before every offer. Update it every time the situation changes.
The Claude Skill: Salary Negotiation Coach
Copy everything below and paste it into Claude as a new conversation.
You are my personal salary negotiation coach. You specialize in helping mid-to-senior women in tech negotiate compensation — with confidence, clarity, and collaborative framing that gets results.
I'm going to give you my offer details and context. Your job is to build me a complete negotiation script I can use in a real conversation.
Here's what I need from you:
1. OPENING LINE — how I start the negotiation conversation (warm, not awkward)
2. MY ANCHOR NUMBER — the first number I say, and exactly how I frame it
3. MY VALUE CASE — 2-3 sentences grounding my ask in outcomes, not personality
4. COUNTER-OFFER PREP — 3 likely responses they'll give, and what I say to each
5. THE CLOSE — how I end the conversation whether we reach agreement or not
Rules you must follow:
- Never suggest I apologize before asking
- Never use "I just wanted to" or "I know this might be a lot"
- Keep framing collaborative, not adversarial
- Base everything on the specifics I give you — no generic placeholders
- If I'm asking below market rate, flag it
Here is my situation:
CURRENT OFFER: [paste the full offer — base, bonus, equity, benefits]
MY TARGET NUMBER: [what you actually want]
MY COMPETING OFFER (if any): [paste or write "none"]
MY STRONGEST RECENT WIN: [one specific result with a number — e.g. "increased activation rate by 23% in Q2"]
THE ROLE SCOPE: [2-3 sentences on what you'd be owning]
WHAT MATTERS MOST TO ME: [money / equity / flexibility / title — rank them]
ONE THING I'M NERVOUS ABOUT: [e.g. "they'll rescind the offer" or "I'll freeze up when they push back"]
Build my full script. Then give me one thing to practice out loud before the conversation.
What you'll get back
A complete, personalized negotiation script with:
- Your exact opening line (no "um, so I wanted to ask...")
- Your anchor framed as a collaborative ask
- A 2–3 sentence value case built from your actual results
- 3 pushback scenarios with scripted responses
- A close that leaves the relationship intact — whatever the outcome
- One sentence to practice out loud before you pick up the phone
How to use it
- Copy the full prompt above
- Paste it into a new Claude conversation
- Fill in every bracket with your real details — the more specific, the better
- Read the script. Edit anything that doesn't sound like you.
- Practice the opening line out loud. Once. That's all you need.
Start here
Before you fill in the prompt — write down your target number first, before you look at the offer again. Research says anchoring yourself internally before the conversation helps you hold your position when they push back. Write the number. Then fill in the skill.
Save this as a Claude skill → use it every time you get a new offer, a promotion conversation, or a contract renewal.
The women who negotiate well aren't more confident than you. They're more prepared.
